Best Piece of Advice

Someone recently asked me what the best piece of advice I could give for someone interested in starting events, design, florals, you name it... and my answer would be the same for all. It’s quite vague but it will, without a shadow of a doubt, get you to where you want to go. And that piece of advice is

follow

your

heart.

Whatever it is that gets you excited, keeps you up at night with daydreams, gets you lost in creativity. I would Pinterest all of the time and create vision boards, I would scroll random accounts on Instagram of people who were doing what I wanted to do or I felt inspired by, I would google venues and job openings. But at the end of the day, it wasn’t my resume or hours spent on linked in. It was looking at what I had in my hands, and starting there, creating from there. A backyard dinner, floralizing my best friend’s wedding, designing spaces, rearranging my house, picking wildflowers, drawing, whatever it is. I know that’s not very direct or descript but that’s what got me where I am today.

Following your heart will never lead you astray. That path will never dead end, take you off course. It will curve and wind and have ups and downs, you may even question yourself a time or two, but know that what’s meant for you will find you. Follow your heart, and you’ll find your calling.
